Lake View Park neighborhood was created along with Beaver Lake by landscape architect John Nolen of the historic Myers Park neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lake View Park residents are the collective owners of the lake and the land surrounding it. The City of Asheville does not own or manage Beaver Lake and its surrounding land. Therefore not taxes from the City of Asheville but monthly dues from Lake View Park residents finance its maintainence to keep the park safe and beautiful. Although Beaver Lake is a private park, visitors are welcome to use the park as long as they abide by the same rules that govern the residents.

The affairs and businesses of the community are conducted by The Lake View Park Commission, Inc. The Commissioners are elected at the annual meeting in October to serve the following year. The affairs and businesses of the community are conducted according to the published by-laws.
